What is the true origin of the tarot?
What are the origins of the Tarot? What is your personal opinion? I have researched several sites and books for a series of years and to this day I still am unsure what is the truth in relation to the Tarot. Any ideas?
My personal Thoughts
From Italy it is said that the cards spread from east to west by means of travelling merchants and Gypsies. This places the arrival of the tarot in the western world somewhere in the middle of the 14th century in the cusp of the Renaissance.
That is what I have always believed to be their origins

That is the common consensus Frugul. I say something similar to that on the serene tarot wiki page if you care to look. You can find it at: http://serenetarot.wetpaint.com/page/Origin+and+History+of+Tarot it is a very new site but I am working on it as attached to this forum. Welcome to Serene Tarots Frugul

I always thought Tarot Cards came from the Gypsys! I guess I was wrong!
